Sales overview
Sales are records of real property transactions used as comparable evidence in valuations. Each sale record holds the address, transaction details, parties involved, and any supporting documents for a property that has changed hands.
Data sources
Every sale in VOW originates from one of two sources.
| Source | Description |
|---|---|
| VG | The sales imported from a government or external data provider. VG sales are read-only and cannot be edited or deleted. They are always displayed as confirmed. |
| CX | The sales entered or imported by your organisation. You can create, edit, and delete CX sales if you have the appropriate permissions. |
Where both a VG and a CX record exist for the same property with the same dealing number, the CX record takes precedence in search results.
Sale statuses
Each sale carries a status that indicates its reliability and whether it is available for use as valuation evidence.
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Confirmed | The sale details have been verified. All VG sales are treated as confirmed. |
| Unconfirmed | The sale has been recorded but not yet verified. It has a price and a contract date but has not been marked as confirmed. |
| Provisional | The sale is a draft record. A provisional sale does not require a price or contract date and cannot be added to a valuation as evidence. |
A sale cannot be marked as both confirmed and provisional at the same time.
The Sales page
The Sales page is the primary interface for searching, viewing, and managing sale records. Access it from Sales in the main navigation.
The page uses a tab layout. The Search tab is always present and contains four sub-tabs: Simple, Full, Recent, and Favourite. The Simple and Full tabs provide search forms for running new searches, while Recent and Favourite give quick access to previously run and saved searches. When a search is run, a Results tab opens alongside the Search tab. Results tabs can be closed individually when no longer needed, and multiple results tabs can be open at the same time. See Searching for sales for full details on each search type.
The New sale button at the top right of the page opens the sale creation form.
